Today marks the the start of the 2018 Tour de France.Last year, filmmaker Michel Gondry* helped celebrate last year’s Grand Départ by creating ‘Détour’ a short film using just his Iphone to gather all the footage.

With the need for businesses to produce regular and consistent material whether it be for brand awareness/engagement, engaging with existing clients/customers or attracting new ones; smart-phones are now becoming an increasing viable option for gathering cost-effective footage. Their ability to capture high quality footage and large file storage capacity, allows them to be seriously considered as an option for social media content producers and film-makers. To help develop their brand and tell their story.

There are some simple ‘Do’s and Don’ts’ for filming the raw footage for any inexperienced smart-phone owner. Then with some professional editing and post-production work, a raw piece of film can be transformed into a professional piece of content ready for publishing.

As ‘Détour’ shows, with a good story, footage, editing and post-production, amazing professional results can be achieved.
